| Theme 1: Health Leadership & Management
The shortage of health workers with leadership and management skills is compounding the current health workforce crisis across the Asia-Pacific region. There is also a lack of evidence about which strategies can improve management performance and health service delivery. The Leadership and Management group's work contributes to the evidence to help administrators, managers and decision makers, especially at a district level. |

| Theme 2: Maternal, Newborn & Child Health
This group's work focuses on documenting evidence to address Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 which are aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal mortality. Of particular focus for this group is documenting and understanding the role of maternal, neonatal and reproductive health human resources at the community level and the implications these have on mortality rates. This work will be particularly useful for district managers, non-government organisations and donors in the Asia-Pacfic region. |

| Theme 3: Health Worker Mobility
The migration of health workers in the Asia-Pacific region has had a negative influence on the workforce and economy of some countries in the region which also reduces the effectiveness of health service delivery in these areas. The research undertaken in this area reviews and examines the movement of skilled health workers across various countries in the Asia-Pacific region in order to identify innovative and cost-effective approaches to reduce and manage the flow of health workers. This work will be of particular interest to decision makers from countries with a limited human resource base, such as the Pacific Island states. |

| Theme 4: Public Health Emergencies Workforce
Public health emergencies are common throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Conflicts, natural disasters, pandemics, climate change and other man-made disasters all drain the resources and health systems of countries. The work of this group document a number of successful human resource interventions and innovations which have helped improve the responsiveness and performance of health systems in the public health emergency context. The research conducted by this group is useful for ministries of health, the public health workforce, human resource managers and policy makers in the Asia-Pacific region. |
